The Maa Trust

The Maa Trust is a non-profit organization working together with community-owned wildlife conservancies in the Maasai Mara to increase the benefits of wildlife and conservation to Maasai families so that they appreciate and contribute to the protection of wild animals on their land.

The Maa Trust works in three thematic areas, prioritised by Maasai communities:

  • Education and Skill
  • Water and Health
  • Sustainable Livelihoods

Centre for Ecosystem Restoration Kenya (CERK)

The Maa Site is based at The Maa Trust headquarters, bordering Olare Motorogi Conservancy (OMC), Naboisho Conservancy, and the Maasai Mara National Reserve. It is home to an abundance of animals as well as a semi-arid savanna grassland ecosystem, which forms part of a vital buffer zone between the Maasai Mara National Reserve and the wildlife dispersal areas surrounding it.

Kenya Wildlife Trust (KWT)

Kenya Wildlife Trust (KWT) works closely with conservation partners to protect vulnerable predator populations, empower local communities and educate communities and stakeholders about conservation and environmental stewardship.

Anchored on three key pillars: Predators, People and Partnerships, KWT is continually looking to sustainably work and build relationships with key stakeholders and strategic partners to reduce the decline in the predator (and other wildlife) populations, to empower the communities who live with them and to ensure stakeholders are better educated to ensure that these ecosystems and communities have a stronger future.
