Facilities

Dining with a view

The cosy dining room, filled with beautifully crafted Kenyan furniture is the perfect spot to enjoy your meals, with bifold doors that open out onto the large wrap around veranda where guests can sit and enjoy views of the garden, wildlife and surrounding landscape.  Coffee and tea can be prepared throughout the day at your request and our team can provide alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages at your request for an additional cost.

Home cooked meals

Healthy, home cooked meals are served by our chef in a variety of locations around the house.   Enjoy a warm breakfast and home brewed Kenyan coffee or tea on the veranda, a healthy, fresh, and light lunch on the lawn under the shade of the acacia trees, and a lovely three course dinner in our welcoming dining room.

For those who will be away from the house for lunch enjoying a safari or out in the field, our team will be delighted to provide you with a packed lunch and/or breakfast.

We try to source as much of our food locally as possible, to support the nearby communities. When available guests can enjoy fresh herbs, salads and vegetables that are picked directly from the Maa Trust garden.

Shaded Veranda

Maa Guest House is encircled by a garden and wildlife proof fence, to protect the mature Acacia trees from curious elephants. Maa Guest House is settled beneath these beautiful acacia trees, whose branches provide shelter for monkeys to roost at night.

Our team will be happy to set up a warming fire on the veranda in the evenings where you can relax and unwind or to catch up with friends, family or colleagues after a day on safari or out in the field.

Powered by the sun

We are extremely proud of our eco-credentials – off-grid luxury has always been our aim. The house is entirely powered by solar power, with a back-up generator for emergencies. Rainwater, which we capture and store, provides for all the houses’ needs and our borehole is solar powered. Waste water is treated on-site through a natural reed-based system and all rubbish is managed by a recycling company in Talek.  We clean with eco-friendly products such as Grounded and Cinnebar Green.
